Combining Marketing Consulting with Sales Psychology and Neuroscience

What’s better than a Marketing Consultant with just experience and marketing qualifications?

One who is ALSO qualified in Sales Psychology Neuroscience too!

Exciting news! I recently was awarded a distinction in an accredited Neuroscience Course I completed. It was fascinating and I’m now applying to be an officially recognised Professional Neuroplastician by the Credentialed npn Neuroplastician® body, based on expertise and training.

Here’s why this matters, and why this adds another level of value to my services.

How do you apply neuroscience in your work?

For me, neuroscience is the study of how the brain functions, responds and behaves when given certain stimuli.

I’ve found that applying its principles is vital in my role as a marketing specialist. In marketing, understanding how the brain works is critical to delivering effective and meaningful results.

As a marketing consultant, business mentor, and communications expert running an Australian message marketing agency, neuroscience is fundamental to everything I do. This became especially clear during Dr. Leanne Elich’s Principles of Sales Psychology course, where I realised how many neuroscience principles I had already been instinctively applying in my work. This realisation was incredibly exciting, as it demonstrated my intuitive alignment with these practices.

Neuroscience is at the core of my work—from ensuring communications and messaging resonate with the right audience, to adapting dynamically to markets and clients, to using ethical nudges and influences in crafting bespoke client programs.

One of the most exciting advancements in my business is being accredited in neuroscience and neuroplasticity, as it strengthens my marketing services by adding a much-needed second dimension.

While many marketers rely on basic research, instincts, and experience, I now incorporate an understanding of how the human brain works and the psychology behind it. Recognising and leveraging this science has been pivotal to my success and to delivering truly impactful results for my clients.

How often do you currently integrate neuroscience principles into your professional practice?

Literally every single day. As mentioned in my previous answer, it wasn’t until I completed Dr. Leanne Elich’s Principles of Sales Psychology course that I realised how instinctively and fundamentally I had been applying neuroscientific principles throughout my career. These principles are critical to my work and have been a key driver of my success in running a marketing agency for the past seven years.

For example, storytelling, consistency, and emotional resonance are at the heart of my approach as a communications and message marketing specialist. I’ve learned that up to 93% of decision-making—whether B2B or B2C—is emotionally driven, and crafting emotionally impactful messaging is essential for reaching and influencing audiences. Similarly, reducing cognitive load by simplifying messages ensures clarity and prevents overwhelming the audience.

Priming has been another revelation for me.

I’ve always emphasised the importance of setting expectations upfront with both clients and my team, letting them know what they can look forward to and delivering on those promises.

Through the course, I realised this is exactly what neuroscience refers to as priming, and it has been a major contributor to my agency’s success, evidenced by over 150 five-star Google reviews and collaborations with some of Australia’s biggest brands.

Relatability, rooted in the principle of mirror neurons, is also a cornerstone of my work.

My main message—We make your brand relevant—is about creating empathetic, human connections that resonate deeply with target audiences.

Finally, neuroplasticity is something I apply not only with clients but also within my team, constantly training and embracing new technologies like AI. Learning how to adapt and harness these tools has been a key focus in the past year, leveraging neuroplasticity to stay ahead of the curve.

In short, neuroscience principles—whether it’s storytelling, emotional resonance, priming, mirror neurons, or cognitive load—are embedded in everything I do, even when I didn’t initially realise they were grounded in neuroscience – however, now that I do, I can see how powerful the combination of marketing and science is!

Explain how the brain, emotions, and behaviour are influenced by the process of neuroplasticity.

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to create new neural pathways, allowing it to adapt, learn, and evolve. This process influences emotions and behaviour because it fundamentally shapes how individuals think, respond, and interact with the world.

As the brain becomes more malleable, or "plastic," through learning and new experiences, it opens up resources that expand understanding and perspective.

This broader mental framework enables individuals to draw on new information and diverse insights, leading to more comprehensive and adaptable behaviours and emotional responses. Essentially, neuroplasticity helps people move beyond narrow thinking, encouraging openness to growth, change, and new possibilities.

For me, this understanding has deeply resonated.

Maintaining neuroplasticity has been central to my personal and professional growth. I believe that no one is ever done learning, and I live this by reading books daily, watching videos, listening to podcasts, and seeking out new opinions. Whether it’s undertaking Dr. Leanne Elich’s Principles of Sales Psychology course, diving into fields like cybersecurity or IT, or engaging in psychology training, I constantly challenge my brain to grow and adapt.

This approach extends to my team and clients as well.

I regularly provide opportunities for growth through training, networking, and knowledge sharing. In marketing, where stagnation can be disastrous, neuroplasticity is essential for staying relevant, creative, and effective. It fuels innovation and problem-solving in an industry that evolves rapidly.

One of the ways neuroplasticity has directly shaped my career is through the diversity of industries I’ve worked with.

People often ask how I can operate across such a wide spectrum—from builders, architects, and lawyers to e-commerce, health, media, and real estate. The answer is simple: neuroplasticity.

It gives me the ability to immerse myself in new fields, learn from them, and apply tailored strategies. It’s not just a tool for professional success but a mindset for lifelong learning and adaptability.

In short, neuroplasticity is not just about learning—it’s about creating a brain that is constantly evolving, open to change, and capable of influencing emotions, behaviours, and outcomes. It’s a powerful mechanism that underpins growth, both personally and professionally.

Can you provide specific examples of how neuroscience has influenced your approach to your work?

As I mentioned earlier, one of the biggest comments I often receive from clients, colleagues, and team members is, “How are you able to work with so many diverse industries?”

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working across sectors including law, accounting, real estate, design, healthcare, marketing, and even snow cones! The reason for my success across such diverse fields comes down to neuroplasticity, which allows me to adapt my fundamental skills—message articulation, branding, and strategy—to fit each client’s unique challenges.

Here are some specific examples of how this adaptability has shaped my work:

  • Criminal Law: I worked with a criminal lawyer in Sydney and Melbourne, conducting strategy sessions to understand his expertise. This allowed me to create significant education modules designed to teach other criminal lawyers across Australia, broadening his influence and positioning him as a thought leader.
  • Snow Cones: I collaborated with a snow cone vendor to differentiate his business from competitors in school fetes. By understanding his process and value, I revamped his website to articulate this uniqueness in a way that resonated with schools.
  • Accounting: I partnered with accountants who felt trapped in being pigeonholed as basic tax compliance providers. Through strategy sessions, I identified their real value in offering high-level business strategy and CFO services. I then developed brand guidelines, crafted messaging, and created personal LinkedIn stories to re-educate the market about their expertise.
  • Software: For a proctoring software company, I helped balance the needs of multiple stakeholders—alumni, compliance regulators, and students. By conducting in-depth strategy sessions, I crafted targeted messaging to address each audience’s unique concerns, building trust and alignment across the board.
  • Healthcare: I’ve worked with medical professionals and doctors, crafting messaging for complex scientific and medical concepts. By engaging with doctors and understanding their needs, I created communications that informed and inspired decision-making, despite my lack of medical qualifications.
  • AI: Using Microsoft’s education modules on AI compliance and ethics, I adapted the content and built an entire business arm called Melotti AI, which provides tailored AI courses and guidelines for businesses navigating this emerging field.
  • Jewellery Design: I collaborated with a boutique jewellery designer in Sydney to develop a full brand strategy. By creating messaging that emphasised heirloom quality and prestige, we positioned her brand to connect deeply with customers seeking unique, high-value designs.
  • Visa Migration Agency: I wrote a comprehensive 45-page website for a visa migration agency that navigates complex frameworks for immigration and compliance. By learning about their sophisticated processes and empathising with their clients, I crafted content that explained their services clearly and highlighted their empathetic approach, making their offerings accessible and reassuring.
  • Fire Safety and Maintenance: I collaborated with a fire safety and systems advisory company in Melbourne to articulate their expertise in fire safety frameworks. By understanding the complexities of their work, I developed a website that demonstrated their value and appealed directly to building managers.
  • Scientific Waterproofing: I worked with an award-winning scientific waterproofing company in Australia, learning the intricacies of their complex products and applications. Using this knowledge, I created guides specifically tailored for architects, making the products accessible and practical for their projects.
  • High-Fashion Sunglasses: Despite having no prior experience in the fashion industry, I collaborated with a high-end sunglasses brand to create high-level brand messaging guidelines. These guidelines were used globally in advertising campaigns, demonstrating the power of adaptability and insight in crafting effective messaging.
  • Proctoring Software: For a proctoring software company catering to alumni, compliance regulators, and students, I conducted strategy sessions to understand each audience’s concerns. By identifying the unique needs of each group, I created tailored messaging that reassured and engaged all stakeholders, fostering trust and alignment.

These examples demonstrate how neuroplasticity enables me to learn, adapt, and excel across industries. It’s not just about solving problems—it’s about immersing myself in my clients’ world, understanding their challenges, and applying my skills to deliver tailored solutions.

This process keeps my work dynamic and rewarding, while helping my clients achieve meaningful results.

Provide examples that show your expertise in applied neuroscience.

My expertise in applied neuroscience is reflected in the daily practices of my marketing agency and the strategies we implement for our clients.

Across all the industries we work with—from finance and legal to healthcare, hospitality, and e-commerce—I see neuroscience principles as the foundation of effective marketing. Here’s how I apply these principles:

  1. Neuroplasticity: Internally, I ensure that my team and I embrace learning and adaptability across industries. Each client brings unique challenges, and through neuroplasticity, we continually grow and develop new approaches. Externally, I teach AI and marketing classes that encourage learning and create new neural pathways for my students and clients.

  2. Emotional Resonance: Storytelling and emotional connection are at the core of what we do. My tagline, “We make brands relevant,” highlights our focus on creating messaging that resonates deeply with audiences, helping them connect with brands on an emotional level every single day.

  3. Attention and Focus: The brain is selective in what it pays attention to, which is why I specialise in crafting clear, concise, and relevant messaging. I help brands focus on the messages that matter, ensuring they are engaging and customer-centric.

  4. Cognitive Load: Simplifying and uncomplicating messages is key to effective communication. My strategies ensure that audiences can process and retain information easily, leading to better understanding and action.

  5. Repetition and Reinforcement: I focus on consistency and clarity in all messaging strategies, leveraging omni-channel marketing to reinforce brand messages across multiple platforms. This repetition strengthens audience recognition and loyalty.

  6. Mirror Neurons: Through storytelling, we evoke empathy and emotion in both our clients and their customers, fostering stronger connections and impactful messaging.

  7. Reward Systems: I help clients not only secure initial conversions but also design retention strategies through nurturing, ongoing support, good communication, and customer relationship management.

  8. Reward Systems: I help clients not only secure initial conversions but also design retention strategies through nurturing, ongoing support, good communication, and customer relationship management.

  9. Chunking and Pattern Recognition: In our user experience (UX) design, we incorporate techniques like headings, bullet points, concise paragraphs, and varied sentence lengths to help audiences process information effectively.

  10. Novelty: We craft messaging that stands out—fresh, unique, and unexpected—to capture attention and drive engagement. This focus on novelty ensures that our clients’ brands don’t blend into the background.

  11. Predictability and Surprise: We balance safe, predictable messages with elements of surprise to create a mix that holds attention and sparks curiosity, making campaigns more engaging and memorable.

  12. Sensory Integration: As a marketing agency, we take a multi-sensory approach by incorporating print, audio, video scripting, and omni-channel strategies. This ensures a richer, more immersive experience for clients and their audiences.

By integrating these neuroscience principles into my work, I’ve developed a marketing approach that is highly effective, innovative, and rooted in understanding how the brain works.

These practices have been instrumental in the success of both my agency and my clients.

Give an example of how you effectively applied brain-body behavioural tools that create neurological change within yourself and clients.

As a marketing consultant and personal brand specialist, I understand the importance of applying techniques that, in neurological science, are defined as brain-body behavioural tools to help create positive change.

As per my previous answers, much of what I’ve done over the years has been instinctive and rooted in general marketing practices.

It wasn’t until I began studying neuroscience and neuroplasticity that I realised many of these practices align with what neuroscience defines as brain-body behavioural tools.

One example comes from working with a financial professional in Sydney who had taken over an accounting firm originally founded by his father. While he had extensive knowledge and expertise, he tended to undervalue the relevance of his insights and was reluctant to step into the spotlight. My role was not only to help with the firm’s marketing but also to emphasise the importance of developing his personal brand as a key opinion leader.

Through our program, I guided him in overcoming mental barriers and gaining the confidence to present himself as an authority in his field. This involved practical exercises such as scriptwriting, creating personal branding frameworks, and helping him feel at ease with speaking engagements and video presentations.

Over time, he began to see the value of sharing his knowledge with his audience, and the confidence he developed was transformative—not just for his personal brand but also for the perception of his firm in the industry.

This experience exemplifies how I instinctively used brain-body behavioural tools, such as confidence-building, embodied learning, and habit formation, to bring about neurological and behavioural change in my client.

How many years have you applied neuroscience in your work?

The answer is every single day for my entire career, though I wasn’t fully aware of it at the time.

It wasn’t until I studied an official neuroscience and neuroplasticity course that I realised much of what I was instinctively and knowledgeably doing aligned with principles of neuroscience and neuroplasticity.

From fostering mindfulness, habit building, and DISC profiling internally, to increasing neuroplasticity in myself through constant learning, to teaching my team and clients these principles—neuroscience has been embedded in everything I do.

Practices such as storytelling, empathy-building, mirror neuron techniques, priming, and setting expectations have all been integral to my work. For example, my focus on clear and consistent messaging, emotional resonance, and omni-channel marketing strategies are all deeply connected to these principles.

While much of this stems from experience, instincts, and my natural ability to connect with people as a high I-profile, I now recognise how closely aligned these practices are with the human experience and neuroscience. These tools have not only shaped my professional journey but have also brought tangible, positive outcomes for my clients and team. All the examples I’ve provided in my earlier answers reflect this ongoing, deeply ingrained application of neuroscience.
